Hitting The Road With SETMEONFIRE

Hot off the heels of their Lowtech album Sydney’s very own Setmeonfire are heading out onto the road for an east coast tour. Given the brilliance of Lowtech these are shows that you are not going to want to miss so HEAVY Mag sat down with Cameron Eyre to see what they have planned for their fans on this tour.

“This tour came about after the release of Lowtech last month,” says Eyre as we start to discuss the nitty gritty of the tour. “The natural thing to do was to follow that up with some shows but that is actually difficult for me because I have a family at home so I have to try and fit shows around life as opposed to some other bands that are more full on and you have to fit life around the band. It has taken awhile to get the shows going and to get to a point where we could all take the time off work, but we eventually go there and I ended up booking the shows myself, which is something that we hadn’t had to do for awhile. I didn’t miss having to do that because it is quite time consuming.”

That leads me to ask him just how difficult it is to juggle band life with family life. “It is actually one of the major reasons why I started this band or project,” he explains. “When we first started out it was actually just a solo project. But that gave me a bit of freedom with life because I didn’t have a whole band of people to try and manage and organise – and that was quite easy in that regards. Coming from other bands in the past they were a bit more full on and like I said earlier you have to kind of plan your life around the band as opposed to the other way around. So initially this project was supposed to be a bit of a scaled back thing that I could do in my spare time when I could – which it still is which is a cool thing. I just have a couple of mate helping me out with the live shows.”
