HELL’S GAZELLES ‘Take Your Medicine’

Share This:

Hell’s Gazelles are what you would call an all out rock band. They channel the sound of those bands we all love from the decades of true rock n roll music. From Judas Priest to Queensryche those influences can clearly be heard in this bands sound. Since releasing  their debut self titled EP, the band has been making the rounds on the live circuit and are now back with a brand new EP, Take Your Medicine. The band have self released the EP and had it recorded and produced by Chris D’Adda (Wayward Sons, Toseland) at Vale Studios and mixed / mastered by Neil Kennedy (Creeper, Milk Teeth).

This new EP brings back everything we’ve grown to love about these guys with their heavy riffs and high vocals. The lead single “Stone Cold” is the perfect example of this blend. From the opening riffs you can hear that instant heavy sound but it’s the scream of “come on” from vocalist Cole Bryant that really gets the track going. From this point it only gets more exciting and that’s what the rest of the EP brings. The opening track draws you in and shows you what this band can do but has you asking for more and that’s exactly what they deliver. Bryant’s voice is something reminiscent of that of Geoff Tate in the early days of Queensryche and fits the sound the band has gone for so perfectly. The melodies and riffs throughout the EP are well written and played superbly. This can especially be heard on “Out Of Your Time” as the solo kicks in mid way through the track. The talent of Nath Digman is something worth keeping your eyes on as he shreds through each track. The closing track “She Devil” has this addictive repetitive riff that set off against the drum beats is outstanding to listen to and just continues to pull you in. Throw in some lyrics about a gorgeous woman and Hell’s Gazelles have just done it again.

Hell’s Gazelles have pulled off something truly superb that embodies that old school feel of heavy rock. Take Your Medicine is just one kickass track after another and leaves you begging for more. As they prepare to launch the EP in their home time in July, their promo video for the event is something else with good old Boycie (John Challis) from the classic Only Fools And Horses telling you exactly what’s going down. A band who can get such a classic character to promote them must be doing something right!
