Things are seemingly spiraling upward for the Melbourne based extreme hardcore pub punk thrash metallers, King Parrot, as they have just been announced as a feature artist in the gargantuan music conference known as South by South West, located in Austin TX.

Among the fray of artists currently announced include Australia’s What So Not, Touch Sensitive, Oh Mercy, Kid Mac, The Growl, Dune Rats, Dub FX, The Delta Riggs, Boy And Bear, whilst King Parrot fly the flag for the heavier (and somewhat uglier?) side of Australian music. Check out the huge list of artists announced for the 2014 line-up here.

King Parrot have also signed with Candlelight Records for a US release of their debut full-length Bite Your Head Off, due out December 10.

South By South West (SXSW) is a mass congregation of artists, music executives and business associates from large entertainment companies. Located in Austin, Texas SXSW provides a centralised place for various members from the music industry to come together where they can see a wide variety of bands from around the globe, meet face to face with other industry officials and attend trade shows regarding the fluctuating state and various aspects of the music industry.

Over the years SXSW has grown to incorporate film and interactive technologies in addition to music. The core goal remains the same however, as SXSW strives to develop the careers of individuals and artists and bring together people from a wide range of areas from music, film and interactive technologies.

Registrations are now closed for next years SXSW, but be sure keep an eye on Brisbane’s Big Sound 2014, Australia’s smaller but highly reputable version of SXSW.

HEAVY would like to congratulate King Parrot on their efforts and wish them all the best for next years performance at SXSW.
