This weeks DigiMag cover is a bit contentious. The recent rise in the popularity of tribute bands has polarised opinions, with both sides of the argument having merit. So, with Chop Suey and Slip Not headed our way next month HEAVY decided to get the opinions of someone who is entrenched in the tribute band world – but also has strong grounding in the world of original music – drummer for both bands and Captain of the ship, Andre Joyzi. It was a great chat with equal weight given to the pros, cons and perceptions of tribute bands so check it out for yourself and let us know what you think.

Elsewhere, we continue our expose on the bands playing at Thrashville 2026, with Immortal Within, Pyrefly and Shacked all under the spotlight. There’s tour news from the likes of Karnivool and Frankenbok plus the metal representatives nominated for an APRA Award in next months ceremony.

HEAVY is proud to premiere the new track from Outta Spite, as well as one from a band who should almost be given Australian status, The Midnight Devils. There’s more new music from alt., Hands Like Houses, Our Last Enemy and more, as well as photos and opinions from The Living End‘s recent show.

In international news from bands that are on the way or just left our shores, get the latest music and interviews from Papa Roach, Helleruin, Skindred, Crystal Lakes, Saosin, The Horrors and a stack of others. So spin the new HEAVY Spotify playlist and catch up on the last week in metal.

Enjoy your weekend and stay HEAVY,

Krispy
