HEAVY Mag turns 10 this year, and to celebrate have been hosting birthday parties around the country.
Now, it’s Brisbane’s turn, with the Mansfield Tavern hosting a special day of live entertainment on Saturday, August 20.
With 15 bands playing from midday to midnight on the one stage, HEAVY has decided to split the announcement in two, with tickets $35 plus BF for those smart enough to get in early.
The day will feature a diverse line-up of music from rock to punk to metal, so, without further delay, here is the first announcement!
FRANKENBOK: Melbourne metal legends who are enjoying a new lease on life with their latest album Overdose. Frankenbok have had a couple of recent trips to QLD thwarted by COVID but are itching to get up there and decimate the crowds.
ARMOURED EARTH: A five piece outfit based in Melbourne who simply love to write good, strong hard hitting yet still catchy heavy metal. Jam packed with thumping grooves, vocals from hell and ripping guitars added with a good melodic flavour, Armoured Earth’s live set will leave you begging for more.
NEW CLEAR VISION: After devastating fans by calling it a day unexpectedly a couple of years ago, vocalist Brad Bromfield has decided to revitalize the popular metal/punk/rap hybrid outfit and has set the HEAVY birthday bash as the band’s comeback gig. It is a massive honour to present his show and if we know Brad (which we do), NCV will be back bigger, stronger, and badder than ever before.
AZREAL: Gold Coast groove metal merchants with a massive sound and even bigger live show. Azreal have returned to the stages a lot more in recent times and HEAVY is proud to have them do so once more.
FROM CRISIS TO COLLAPSE: Byron Bay extreme metal outfit From Crisis To Collapse are one of those bands that despite knowing what you are going to get, always manage to deliver a few surprises. Riding high on the back of recent single Needlepoint, From Crisis To Collapse have been denied stage time recently due to world events but promise to be firing on all cylinders for this!
MASSIC: Massic’s latest album Cognisant has further enhanced the band’s already high standing with a ferocious blending of hardcore and groove metal that is exhausting to listen to, let alone watch live. Another band who only play select shows of late and we are honoured to have them perform.
DEADWEIGHT 80: Melbourne hardcore outfit Deadweight 80 first caught HEAVY’s eye with a blistering set at Kilfest last year and when they offered to make the trek North we jumped at the chance.
GOATZILLA: Brisbane based punk/metal outfit Goatzilla are one of the unpolished gems of the local music scene, working tirelessly and playing ferociously. After seeing their set at the recent Wallapalooza HEAVY knew these guys had to be part of this show, so they are!
