The lads in Adelaide-based HEADBORE are gearing up for their next full-length release in March this year. They describe the new material as being a real step forward for the band while still maintaining their trademark groovy, melodic brand of brutality. The band comprises three original members and two of somewhat newer blood. Vocalist since day one, Fish, talks about the upcoming album here.
“We have really pushed each other like never before in the writing and recording processes on this album. This is the first time in the studio with our bassist Mike and drummer Rob. They’ve brought fresh ideas to the table with full involvement in the group songwriting sessions. But with Wardy and Luke [original guitarists] still riffing out together, the new stuff stays grounded in the raw aggression that people have come to expect from us.
It’s been a beast of a process making this album so far, so we seriously can’t wait to blast it into everyone’s earholes once it’s ready. Thanks to Andy’s stellar work in the recording and mixing stages, the songs are already sounding really large. We’ve now also sent it all off to the UK for Scott Atkins at Grindstone Studio to work his magic on it, which is pretty exciting for us. Scott works with bands like Sylosis, Cradle of Filth and Chaos Divine, so we’re lucky to be in that sort of company as we finalise the sound for these new tracks.”
HEADBORE will launch their new album on Friday, March 21 in the main room at the much-loved Governor Hindmarsh Hotel in Adelaide. It’s a huge double-header show, with fellow Adelaide-based thrash metal globetrotters Hidden Intent also launching their own new album on the same night. The fast-rising Pizza Death (Vic) and Denazen (SA) will round out the line-up for what promises to be a hectic night of revelry celebrating new music from a couple of Adelaide’s favourites.
