[NEWS] HACKTIVIST Release Surprise New EP

Share This:

UK grime-metal quintet Hacktivist have unveiled their surprise new EP Over-Throne, to coincide with their upcoming headline UK tour.

This is their first record since the critically acclaimed Outside The Box, which was released earlier on 4th March 2016 via UNFD.

Over-Throne features a cover of the Cypress Hill song, (Rock) Superstar which initially appeared on the RockSound Worship and Tributes cover mount CD for their 200th issue.

Vocalist Ben Marvin said: “Over-Throne is one of the first new tracks we’ve written since the Outside The Box album came out earlier this year. It’s about people taking the power back into their own hands. We no longer want or need to be governed by soulless money making machines. THEIR interests are not OUR interests. Too much blood has been shed.”

Born out of a studio jam between guitarist/producer Timfy James and MC J Hurley in late 2011, Hacktivist fuse the groove, attitude and brutality of metal, grime, hardcore and hip-hop to create a unique sound that has excited and divided audiences. Their debut self-titled EP was lauded by the likes of Metal Hammer, Rock Sound and Kerrang!, and even found its way to hip-hop publication Insomniac and went as far as The Guardian. Hacktivist went on to dominate main stages at Sonisphere, Rock Am Ring/Im Park in Germany, Download, T In The Park and Reading/Leeds festivals and they were last seen in Australia in September with Enter Shikari.

Track listing:
1. Over-Throne
2. Taken (acoustic)
3. Buszy (TimyJames remix)
4. (Rock) Superstar

Over-Throne is available now via UNFD.
