Rock outfit Bradley Stewart & The Thornbirds welcomed in the new year by releasing the EP The End Is Not The End, an ambiguously titled body of work that is represented here by the track Harvey Wallbanger.
A subtle drum intro introduces the track before cool and casual vocals appear over a tempered, groove-laden musical score that has a definite blues vibe simmering beneath the surface.
Just after the one-minute mark, this is accentuated by a tasty, whisky-drenched guitar solo that continues beautifully for almost another minute without overstaying its welcome.
The groove kicks back in and there’s a hint of psychedelics creeping through as well before the track pulls to a close, leaving a sense of longing for more, which means it has done its job to perfection.
