Are you ready for the madcap chaos of Australia’s largest travelling music festival? Good Things season returns with a head-spinning line-up fit for a fever dream. Across three East Coast dates, this year’s Good Things Festival will deliver a trip down the rabbit hole with a stacked bill of international heavyweights, old favourites, hungry up-and-comers, and Aussie staples. And in a boon for younger attendees, Sydney’s Centennial Park festival date will be a 16+ event for the first time!

In the lead-up to Good Things 2024, HEAVY will be running a small feature on the bands playing so you can get up to speed before the big day. Today we bring you THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT.

Formed in Brisbane in 1999, The Butterfly Effect quickly became one of Australia’s most iconic rock bands. Known for their powerful blend of alternative rock, the band captivated audiences with their intense live performances and emotionally charged music.

The Butterfly Effect released a series of critically acclaimed albums, including Begins Here (2003), Imago (2006), and Final Conversation of Kings (2008), all reaching gold status and each showcasing their evolution in sound and lyrical depth.

After a five-year hiatus, the band reunited in 2017, much to the delight of their dedicated fanbase. Their return marked a new chapter in their career, bringing with it fresh energy and a renewed passion for creating music. In 2019, they released Unbroken, their first new music in over a decade, followed by the 2022 album IV. These releases led to a series of sold-out shows and tours, including their highest-selling tour ever for the 20th anniversary of Begins Here in February this year.

With their distinctive sound, fronted by the powerful vocals of Clint Boge, The Butterfly Effect continues to leave an indelible mark on the Australian rock scene. These Good Things Festival shows will be their first since that record-breaking tour, and they promise to deliver a set that’s both nostalgic and electrifying!
