Flying High with LIFE PILOT

Share This:

Adelaide hardcore machine Life Pilot have hit marketing gold with the film clip for their latest single ‘Dark, Dark Goose’. The public reaction and acceptance of a basic premise of whose turn it is to take out the bin has seen the song (and rightfully so) go ballistic in terms of views and social media presence, with drummer Eli Green admitting even the band themselves were taken aback by its popularity.
“Yeah, it’s a funny clip man”, he laughed. “We were pretty nervous to see how people would respond to it but everything we’ve heard back has been really good. People are really enjoying the light-hearted take on things and we had a lot of fun making it”.
So much so that the thought of maybe being onto something that marketing departments can only dream of never entered their minds.
“We thought it would be something a little bit different”, Green nodded, “and we were definitely trying to do something that wasn’t the norm. We’ve seen the same sort of clip from so many different bands over the last couple of years – playing in a warehouse or a bedroom or something, and it’s fine, we’ve done it before ourselves so we can’t throw too much shade on it – but we just felt like this song is a light-hearted and groovy feeling kind of song even though the subject matter was a little heavier and we thought we could probably do something a little more creative. We’re a funny group of guys, we’re not dead serious all the time like a lot of people in metal bands often are and we thought let’s roll with that, let’s do something funny that showcases our humour a little bit more and might just be a little bit different”.
In the full interview Eli reveals what the song ‘Dark, Dark Goose’ is actually about, discusses the tour that is already underway and where to catch the band on their remaining dates, life on the road, the difficulties the band faced having to actually act in the film clip, new music and what direction it will take, the reason for releasing a succession of E.P’s rather than a full album, just how much they put into their live shows and more.
