Hailing from the Bay Area of San Francisco comes death rock/dark punk band Mystic Priestess who have just announced themselves to an international audience with their brand new video clip for a track also titled ‘Mystic Priestess.’ To find out a little more about this amazing band HEAVY Mag recently caught up with singer Sierra Rose and guitarist/saxophonist Winter Zora to find out a little more about Mystic Priestess.
“I started this band because I was going through something called The Saturn Returns,” explains Sierra. “I was having past lives visions of being a priestess in a past life. So I began the band and the song is portraying empowerment for all fem, non-binary, queer identifying people to empower themselves with the earth elements and to know that the universe shows you signs that you are taken care of in the world and that we can manifest anything that we want to.”
“The person who shot the video are a good friend of ours,” explains Winter when we begin to talk about the video clip that has everybody talking. “They play bass guitar in a really cool band but have also done a few music videos aside from the one that they have done with us and we were really impressed with their work and what they were able to do. We were impressed with their creative capabilities so we reached out to them and asked if they would make a music video based on our song and it ended up being a mutual decision of where should we make this at and how would be the best way to represent what we wanted to portray in the lyrics. We decided to shoot it at the beach because the beach is a really healing place for us and it is a very serene place to just let yourself go and be away from the crazy everyday life of cellphones and internet, things that affect us every day.”
