Hopes of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel fans right across the world took a bit of a battering at Melbourne’s Supanova Pop Culture Convention when the star of both shows David Boreanaz told his fans he doesn’t believe that it is likely the long-awaited and eagerly anticipated Buffy/Angel reunion show or series will actually ever happen.
When he was first asked the question Boreanaz tried joking it off by saying “I could pop up somewhere and she’d be on a beach with a palms and I’d be like some kind of creeper and she would be like ‘what are you doing here?’ Something like that? That would be a great concept,” Boreanaz joked. “Um… but here’s the thing, I think as a person you live, and you explore and you self-discover and some people like to go back and some don’t. I like to keep going forward so that’s not a yes or a no but I do feel as though…. that we will leave it at that. If it was filmed in Hawaii and they gave me a shitload of money I might… they want me to put the damn fangs back on we’re talking major cash.”
When pushed further Boreanaz said. “I really don’t think it will happen. I’m sorry but I really don’t think it will happen. We can pretend but… you know it’s a pitfall when a show really makes an impact. The stories have moved on in other areas though… there’s comic books with all new stories. Shit the last time I checked Angel was doing all kinds of weird stuff, he was dating some other Faith. The stories went on somewhere else though. Maybe they could do a new series with all new people at some time but I don’t know.”
Boreanaz also clarified the articles online that recently talked about going nude whenever he liked on the set of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. “Let me clarify that,” he said laughing. “When we recently had this anniversary catch-up a couple of months ago I was sitting with Sarah (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Allison (Allison Hannigan) and they were like ‘you used to take your clothes off’ and I was like ‘WHAT?’ and they were saying ‘you used to walk around naked.’ And I was like ‘I didn’t walk around nude… that’s not true.’ First of all I would have been arrested if I did, but we did have specific scenes that called for ‘naked Angel.’ I didn’t write the scenes, I don’t know who wrote the scenes, but a person wrote scenes that said ‘naked Angel’, that’s how Angel became naked. David was playing part that says he has to be naked and David is an actor… so I was naked. They want you to wear this little sock and I’m like hell no I’m not putting a sock on that. They would have needed a big bag. So to answer that question in a polite way… I was doing my job! I was doing my job… being naked.”
