Melbourne alt-rock four-piece Excuse For An Exit have announced their debut EP, Glitter & Grief will be out Friday, December 11. Leading the announcement is their infectious new single Black Cat Superstar, out everywhere today.
Produced, mixed and mastered by Chris Lalic (Windwaker, Headwreck, RinRin), Glitter & Grief sees Excuse For An Exit build upon their emo/rock foundations, doubling down on some of their heaviest material yet while also experimenting with electronic flourishes, sugary pop and disco-rock hooks. The EP traces the push and pull of life’s highs and lows, from wild nights out to heartbreak, ended friendships, and new, unexpected beginnings.
“The idea of Glitter & Grief grew from the healing process itself,” says vocalist Edelle. “Like glitter, grief never quite disappears. It fades, but little remnants are always there. Some days you notice them more than others. Still, even in its persistence, there’s something beautiful about it, and eventually, you learn to live with it, and even wear it.”
