Exclusive Premiere: Smokin’ Mirrors – State Of Mind

Overgrown boyscouts, cross-dressing police officers, white-girl-wasted archangels, MMA-trained grannies and freshly baked pies. All of these things and more are brought to life in Smokin’ Mirrors’  batshit crazy new music video for ‘State Of The Mind’, which plays out like a modern day parable about the Seven Deadly Sins.

The clip for the female-fronted Sydney hard rock foursome’s second single off their debut EP, ‘Set To Ignite’, unfolds an intricate tale of good versus evil, as a group of angels and devils vie against each other to influence the decisions of a mortal boyscout with a very impressive ginger moustache.

“The song itself is about exploring alternative ways of thinking,” says frontwoman, Emmy Mack. “To me, a ‘State Of The Mind’ is kind of like having an oppressive government regime inside your own head, dictating what you can and can’t think. The song is about breaking down those barriers and learning to think for yourself.”

“It’s a serious concept, but the clip is anything but. It’s a bonkers story with lots of nods to comic books, MLG, social media fads and some of our favourite cheesy movies, and it’s packing a ton of cameos from some of our favourite Sydney bands as well.”

Those bands include Thrashed, Vanity Riots, Bury The Veil, Dreamers Crime and The Gunn Show.

Triple M favourites Smokin’ Mirrors, who were recently nominated for the Toronto Independent Music Award’s ‘International Artist of the Year’ gong and Firebrand Rock Radio UK’s ‘Band Of The Year’ for 2014, will not be touring off the music video, and with very good reason. They’ve got big news on the horizon, which they’ll be announcing very soon. Stay tuned.
