A Process Of have released their debut single from their latest LP. The new single, Black Rose, is released on 7 August 2015 and we’ve got the preview of the single ahead of the release.
Produced by A Process Of & Peter ‘Reggie’ Bowman, Black Rose was recorded and mixed by Reggie Bowman at Screamlouder Studios in Warrandyte. Vocals were tracked at Three Phase Studios in Brunswick, Melbourne by Joel Taylor whilst mastering duties were assigned to Cameron Mitchell at audiomuster.com
Written by Pete during some downtime between jobs, Black Rose resulted from a couple of late nights and a punk rock obsession. Pete explains, “I was in-between jobs, playing guitar until 3am and listening to a lot Black Flag, Dead Kennedys & Mid Youth Crisis. I had this ‘stoner’ riff I’d been playing around with but I wanted to take it into a different direction. So I kept adding and subtracting parts until I was happy with the structure. I played it to the rest of the band at our next rehearsal and we began jamming it together. Dave added a couple of tails, Brad got busy with the bass & Buddha set the tempo. It was really that easy!”
“Black Rose is an analogy about wanting something and doing anything and everything in your power to get that something. In this case I’ve set the scene of a dark & sinister love song. Whenever I write I use metaphors that assist in painting a mental picture. I actually want to encourage the listener to manifest their own interpretation of the song”. –
