Transcendent Faroese artist Eivør has unveiled the next phase of her remarkable artistic journey. On October 16 this year, Eivør will release her new studio album, Tungl, the Faroese word meaning ‘moon’. Eivør has offered a deeper glimpse into her newest musical vision with the release of her new song Drekafljóð/Dragon Maiden, accompanied by a breathtaking video filmed in Svínadalur, Iceland, by director Krassasig (Kristinn Arnar Sigurðsson).
Eivør says about the song: “I’m excited to share my new song Drekafljóð/Dragon Maiden with you. The song is a tribute to the fierce, intuitive force that lives within us all. While my previous single, Healer, explored resilience, Dragon Maiden feels more like an awakening, a reminder of the power that has always been within you.
The song began as a poem that had been quietly living in the back of my mind for a long time. I wanted to capture that beautiful, liberating feeling of letting go of the need to control everything and opening yourself to whatever life may bring. I invited one of my favourite poetic minds, Marjun S. Kjelnæs, to finish the poem with me, and I’m so proud of what we created together.
Dragon Maiden is about trusting your intuition, embracing uncertainty, and finding the courage to surrender to life’s unfolding. Sometimes the strongest thing we can do is stop trying to control everything and simply allow ourselves to be carried forward. I hope this song encourages people to reconnect with that part of themselves.”
