Du Cane draws inspiration from the Tasmanian mountain range of the same name. Beautiful yet brutally harsh, unpredictable and unforgiving, the landscape mirrors the band’s sound. Blending elements of progressive rock, sludge metal, post-metal and thrash, Du Cane channels that same chaotic energy into music that is raw, immersive and unrelenting.
The Last Dance is the melodic opening track to their album — a dark, atmospheric introduction that eases the listener in before the heavier side of the record takes over. Built around strong melody, mood and tension, it sets the emotional tone for the album without blowing the doors off immediately like some caffeinated goblin with a distortion pedal.
