After a Grammy consideration for Best New Artist and achieving mainstream rock radio success with the Linkin Park leaning single Virus, Phoenix band Dropout Kings are taking it back to a sound they helped pioneer.
The new single Hey Uh could be used by aspiring acts as a blueprint for Trap Metal, fusing dark and distorted beats and bass with haunting synths, scream rap delivery and an overall gritty exterior.
“It’s a rage anthem,” says vocalist Adam Ramey. “It’s a song about feeling unstoppable to the point of arrogance, which in turn, is a metaphor for social political programming that happens throughout America which causes us as a society to sometimes be looked at and stereotyped in that light by others on the outside.”
