Do Dream Theater ever sleep? In between writing 42 minute songs, and a 15 month tour now under wraps, they have managed to squeeze in recording of their upcoming album and are about to release a live recording in May.

The prog masters have just finished all the writing, drum and guitar tracking and will next embark on bass and the solo’s for their 12th studio record. The as yet untitled album, will be the follow up to 2011’s A Dramatic Turn of Events and the second recording with drummer Mike Mangini, who joined the band after the shocking departure of founding member Mike Portnoy in 2010.

While fans wait for the next musical installment, they can sink themselves into the new live DVD and CD, Live at Luna Park, which will be available in May.

Recorded at Luna Park stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina over two nights during the recent tour for their last album, it will be released as 2DVD, Blu-ray, Digital Video, 2DVD/3CD, Blu-ray/3CD, or you could just make your life a lot easier and buy the deluxe edition 2DVD/Blu-ray/3CD, which has all the formats.

Live at Luna Park is the seventh live release from the band and will be the first time fans have seen Mangini on stage with them.

Live at Luna Park released through Eagle Rock Entertainment, May.
