DORO ‘Forever Warriors’

Share This:

The second part of Doro’s very special 20th album is Forever Warriors an album that really does feel like a tribute to metal music itself and feels like it is telling the music industry that Doro is certainly still going strong and still has a lot to give. The album itself is a real mixed bag, as each track begins you never know what style it is going to be, and that really makes this an album that showcases the varied career of Doro herself.

The opening track of Forever Warriors is ‘All For Metal’ a track that is destined to become a favourite for fans of Doro and metal in general considering it also contains members of Sabaton and Kreator as well. Just one listen to the track and you can easily imagine fans screaming out “all for metal’ at any future concerts where the track is performed.  That is then followed by another amazing track that has single written all over it – ‘Bastardos’ – which sees Doro sing with real passion and grunt.

Then comes one of the highlights of the double album – ‘If I Can’t Have You – No One Will’. It starts with a haunting whisper and then turns into something more sinister with Amon Amarth’s Johan Hegg stepping up to the mic with some dark growls and while the song does sound disjointed in parts it does ultimately work.

‘A Soldier Of Metal’ does sum up Doro’s career in both sound and title alone while ‘Turn It Up’ again sees Doro produce the perfect, catchy metal track. ‘Blood Sweat and Rock ‘n’ Roll’ continues with the catchiness and once again has single written all over it. ‘Don’t Break My Heart Again’ wouldn’t have sounded out of place on Forever United and while it is smooth it once again shows Doro do her thing with pure passion.  ‘Love’s Gone To Hell’ sees Doro deliver another brilliant ballad while the smooth ‘Freunde Furs Leben’ is smooth and makes you want to learn German. The album then closes with ‘Backstage To Heaven’ a song that really shows that you never really know what to expect on this album.

Twenty albums into her career and Doro is still creating fantastic albums that need to be heard to be believed. Just like Forever United Forever Warriors is an album full of tracks of absolute passion and heartfelt lyrics. It wins you over very quickly and has you singing along in no time. Doro has once again delivered an absolute gem.
