Today, September 30, Melbourne indie punk band Dental Plan release No Solution, their first new music since their debut album Raw Nerve in July 2024. Filmed and recorded in-studio by consistent collaborator Nick Manuell (who previously filmed a super 8 music video for the band’s Can’t Get What You Want single) in Brunswick, Melbourne at the studio lovingly dubbed The Hit Hole.
No overdubs, no overthinking, just a group of mates playing live in a room – like a Melbourne version of KEXP’s famous live sessions. The full Live At The Hit Hole EP releases Friday October 9, including new songs, a Hüsker Dü cover, and a cut from their album.
Niam Hegarty, vocalist and guitarist says, “I grew up in Dunedin and we definitely lent into our Flying Nun, noisy alt-rock influences for this one. It is our first recording with Tyler playing guitar and they came to the party with this one, bringing some epic noisy riffs. This is a good representation of the band over the last few years. We jam together often and this is kind of like having someone in the room with us.”
