Brace yourselves, metalheads and curious newcomers alike! Deliver The Galaxy, the German melodic death metal outfit, blasts you on a time-warping odyssey through the cosmos with their fourth album, Bury Your Gods.

Prepare for a brutal yet beautiful journey – Mente‘s guttural growls, like a monstrous awakening, intertwine with blazing riffs, weaving a story of ancient aliens and humanity’s place in the vast universe. This album is a headbanging journey that will have you blasting these tracks on repeat. Buckle up – you might discover your new favorite melodic death metal band, transported beyond blistering music through the fabric of space and time.

The album simmers to life with Ancient Alien, a title that leaves no room for ambiguity. We’re immediately plunged into another world as we meet Sularian, an ancient deity, whispering cryptic pronouncements in a distorted, barely decipherable voice. Haunting piano notes accompany the chant, building an atmosphere of chilling mystery. This isn’t just an intro – it’s a portal, setting the ominous tone and building feverish anticipation for the epic journey that unfolds on the following tracks.

Bury Your Gods wastes no time throwing you into the heart of the band’s fury. Mente’s impressive vocals, a monstrous continuum of growls, lead the charge in this headbanger’s anthem. The guitar seamlessly interlaces with his voice, while the drums lay down a relentless assault of double bass blasts. Catchy lyrics complete the package, solidifying Bury Your Gods as a standout track on the album. Here’s a taste of the lyrics from the captivating chorus:

Bury your gods
Let them rot and decay
Slaughter their lies
In this chaotic Ballet

Catchy lyrics aside, this track stands out as a powerful opener. It’s one I can picture myself thrashing about in a crowd of other melodeath rockers. Tracks like Unsterblich, Get Down and Deathlight showcase the melodic brilliance of Deliver the Galaxy. These songs burrow into your brain with seriously infectious earworms. The band’s melodic death metal prowess truly takes centre stage here, offering a satisfying blend of aggression and hooks that will have you nodding and howling along in equal measure.

One of the most impressive aspects of these tracks is the masterful balance. Despite their raw power, each instrument and Mente’s vocals occupy their own sonic space, perfectly complementing each other. The mixing is excellent – clear, precise, and impactful. It creates a powerful and nuanced experience, sending pleasant shivers down the spine.

Deathlight explodes with a pulverising drum intro, guitars quickly joining the fray to support Mente’s impactful vocals. While hints of Bullet for My Valentine’s swagger and 80s metal influences flicker throughout the album, Deliver the Galaxy injects their own potent dose of melodic darkness.

These aren’t just metal songs – they’re a thrilling blend of punk-infused aggression and catchy rock hooks, resulting in a sound that’s unmistakably theirs. Take Get Down, for example, where Mente’s commanding chant practically dares you not to join in, making it a sure fire crowd favourite.

Juxtaposing themes of triumph and despair, the lyrics create a complex emotional landscape. Take Insetopia, a headbanger’s delight. Its melodic guitar riffs and pummeling drums perfectly complement lyrics that paint a picture of unwavering determination. As revealed in the band’s lyric breakdown, the song chronicles a quest for cosmic conquest fueled by a relentless pursuit of victory and an insatiable curiosity. These spacefaring protagonists overcome every obstacle, their resolve never wavering.

In contrast, Live.Die.Repeat lyrically delves into existential angst. The song portrays a character trapped in a tormenting loop, raising questions about life and purpose. Here, the melodeath onslaught intensifies the darkness with lyrics that depict an endless cycle of suffering, highlighting the album’s overall thematic depth.

The album takes a contemplative turn with Shadows, In Retrospect, and PE3. These songs aren’t merely slow burns – they’re moments of reflection woven into the album’s grand narrative. The familiar cosmic vibes resurface, this time infused with mournful piano melodies, the solemn tolling of a bell, and the ominous hum of electronic drums.

PE3 closes the album on a hauntingly beautiful note, devoid of vocals. It’s a powerful invitation for the listener to reflect on the dark quest they’ve just embarked upon, leaving a lingering echo of the journey long after the final note fades.

Mark my words: Deliver the Galaxy is a band on the verge of a breakout. Bury Your Gods isn’t just another step for the band – it’s a quantum leap forward. Building on the foundation of their previous work, Deliver the Galaxy crafted a disruptive record set to shake the melodeath scene to its core. I, for one, will be keeping a hawk’s eye on this release and their predicted rise. If they announce an Australian tour, you better believe I’ll be there moshing in the front row!
