THE DEAD DAISIES “Burn It Down”

We are used to high production perfect albums these days, so it comes as a refreshing change to listen to this new LP from The Dead Daisies. It’s a raw, balls to the wall, kick ass slice, of good old-fashioned, blues-based hard rock. Got you tempted? Well, you should be …

It is clear that this LP has been written with their high voltage live show in mind. Solid backing from Marco Mendoza, Dean Castronovo and David Lowy, overlaid by Doug Aldrich‘s bluesy riffs and then sitting on top of that John Corabi’s gravely pipes .. just perfect. One cannot help but feel the energy in the room as these songs were laid down. Title track “Burn it Down” is the perfect example of this. From its simple blues beginnings, the song rises and falls, with the band playing with their audience’s emotions and displaying musician and audience in perfect harmony.

This LP is classic Dead Daisies and just what you would come to expect from the supergroup. “Judgment Day” is an acoustic masterclass from the band showing how an intricate guitar can accompany a meaningful lyric and before that the hard rocking “Rise Up” drives along the album like a freight train.

The good tunes keep coming, and so they should with all the talent that is on show here.

This is by far the strongest Daisies LP yet and keeps them firmly on an upward rise. Radio friendly blues-tinged hard rock with a touch of metal at its best.
