DAY DREAMERS Share Their List Of Aussie Bands To Watch

Establishing themselves as one of Melbourne’s exciting new rock forces, DAY DREAMERS take another empowered stride into 2026, preparing to release their self-titled EP project on July 1. The DAY DREAMERS collection of sounds captures a period of growth for the group: a maturation in sound, but an elevation in energy and chemistry.

Music that hits hard, music that represents a rebirth of the band, DAY DREAMERS proves an exciting release from the group, and as a taste of what is to come, they’ve shared a brand new single, titled WRECKAGE. While the focus should be on themselves, Day Dreamers have taken some time to share the love, running us through some of their current favourite Melbourne bands.

Operation Karma

A band of 3 sisters that deliver probably some of the most raw sets I’ve ever seen in Naarm. They’re each genuinely so talented and can play multiple instruments; it’s frustrating to watch. We’ve played with them before, and it was incredible watching them throw down these hectic songs. They’re all so cool and genuine, and they’re what the scene needs more of!

Armlock

Armlock is just one of those bands that is fully in it for the art. They don’t fuss themselves over the typical stuff other artists can get wrapped up in and stick to the music, and it shows through what they make. It’s just that next level. The emotion they can get across is just incredible sometimes, out of the simplest of ideas or motifs, El Oh Vee Eee being a favourite example. Ben showed me them, and I’ve been a fan ever since.

Internet Romance

We’ve played a couple of shows with these guys. I remember the first time seeing them, and they started with a slower song, but then they just exploded. One guitar, one bass, drums and vocals, yet they sound as dense as an orchestra live. They’re all such kind, cool people and have been working their butts off on new music that is definitely gonna pop off, so see them while they’re local!

Belair Lip Bombs

They’re just so good. Again, a band that’s truly in it for the art, and it shows in their songs, has just gotten better through the years. They’re definitely in my head now, one of those bands in Australia that’s going to be remembered alongside all the typical household Aussie names. It’s been so cool to witness thinking they were peaking years ago, only for their album Again to come and blow everything else out of the water. My partner has it on repeat in the car all the time, and it doesn’t get old.

Dole Manchild

We talk about Dole so much, I think people might be sick of hearing it from us, nonetheless, we won’t stop singing their praises. They write about real things. Every show they play the room just explodes. You literally can’t help but run into the pit when they start playing. Watching someone get on top of a surfboard, and literally crowd surf across the leadbeater was spiritual.
