Internationally acclaimed Perth band Datura4 – the current outfit of iconic Perth rock’n’roller Dom Mariani of The Stems and Someloves fame, are back with another new single, this time with legendary Perth blues slide guitarist Dave Hole as a special guest.
Hole, who was a Perth stable in the ’70s and 80s, rose to prominence internationally in the ’90s after signing to Chicago’s legendary Alligator label, is the preeminent Australian blues figure on the Australian stage, and he counts among his fans Metallica’s Kirk Hammett who has named Dave as one of his favourite guitarists, saying “His slide playing kills me”.
Datura4, themselves a Perth institution with an international fanbase, are known for their love of the heavy Australian blues of the ’70s, feature in their ranks long time Dave Hole sideman, keyboard player Bob Patient, so the pairing is a natural. Dave’s searing slide tops the band’s archetypically Aussie hard boogie sound perfectly.
Going Back To Hoonsville is released digitally today, and Datura4 will launch it Saturday June 11 at The Aardvark in Fremantle with Delilah Rose & Redcliffe. Detail and tix available here
