Remix albums are always a slightly risky proposition, especially in heavy music. But when you’re talking Industrial heavy music, it tends to fit like a glove. And so it is the case with this album from Queensland’s Darkc3ll. A whole bunch of their tracks have been given some crazy treatment by various people, including members of Marilyn Manson’s band, KMFDM, Dope, Deathstars and more; and most of it works a treat.

Remixes walk a fine line between keeping the essence of the song, whilst doing something weird, wild and wonderful with it. Most of the work here walks that line quite well. The sheer abrasiveness of Darkc3ll’s driving, relentless music is one of its key characteristics, and that is maintained quite well throughout.

The unrelenting barrage of electronic bells and whistles gets a bit much after a while, but this is still a solid collection of re-imagined tracks from this burgeoning Australian band.
