Independent industrial metal project Cinco Doggos has released Render Unto Caesar, a dark musical examination of one of the most controversial chapters in American monetary history: President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Executive Order 6102 and the federal government’s 1933 restrictions on private gold ownership.
Built around mechanical guitar riffs, gothic organ arrangements, electronic textures, commanding vocals, and an ominous industrial atmosphere, Render Unto Caesar transforms a historical event into a musical confrontation between the individual and the machinery of state power. The song’s title invokes the biblical phrase “Render unto Caesar,” raising a provocative question: What happens when government authority extends beyond taxation and into the money people are permitted to own?
