The Chameleons Announce First Ever Australian Tour

Share This:

Iconic dream-pop/post-punk outfit THE CHAMELEONS (UK) have announced their First Ever Australian headline dates. Fronted by founding member, vocalist and bassist Mark Burgess, the tour will showcase the band’s genre-defining body of work, instigated with their 1983 debut Script of the Bridge.

Script Of The Bridge featured key singles “Up The Down Escalator” and “Second Skin”, with follow up releases containing gems such as “Perfume Garden” and ‘’The Fan And The Bellows”, star performer from 1985’s “What Does Anything Mean? Basically”, “Swamp Thing”, found on 1986’s Strange Times, and many more.

For close to 20 years, THE CHAMELEONS would maintain an almost unattainable standard for all those who followed in their footsteps. The group’s influence would go on to penetrate the highest levels of the music industry, with LIAM GALLAGHER famously recanting their lyrics “Is It Any Wonder?” as he accepted a Brit award. THE VERVE would also go on to name check the band as one of their main influences.

To see just how far their unique brand of melancholy rock spread, you needn’t look any further than INTERPOL and THE EDITORS.

Live performances from THE CHAMELEONS are a rare treat, even rarer down under where they have never been… miss THE CHAMELEONS at your own peril!
