Who wouldn’t be excited about getting to watch live music these days? Even better than that, is getting the chance to see The Chats live at the local pub – their natural habitat. It was ‘melt your face off’ hot in Cairns, which some might say is a warm welcome from my little town.
After getting soundcheck sorted Eamon, Matt and Josh sat down with HEAVY for a quick pre-show catchup. You’d have to say it was a touch ironic to sit down with The Chats while they had a pub feed, right?
After going viral in 2017 with their song “Smoko”, The Chats have accomplished more than most bands only dream of. Sold out international tours, ARIA award nomination – invited to play at Coachella, the list goes on the more you dig. Although, even after all their success, they are still down to earth and an all-round bunch of nice dudes!
“AC/DC CD” is the newest song by The Chats and is a huge nod to their beloved AC/DC. If you haven’t had the chance to watch the film clip yet – you need to check it out. The boys thought it would only be fitting to go on a regional tour dropping by all sorts of Aussie towns, spreading the ‘Acca Dacca’ love.
During our sit down, The Chats spoke of their favourite memories as a band, a little background info on their film clips, reflect on some of the people they’ve met along the way and whole bunch of other random stuff like “how shit does The Chats Goon taste”?
As for their live show? It was fucking awesome! It was strange to see people out of their ‘Covid Caves’ I must admit, I don’t think anyone knows how to be normal in public anymore… having said that, everyone was pumped to be there! The Unknowns opened the show and got the crowd nice and lubed up for The Chats. It would be rude not to mention Josh Hardy, The Chats newest band member, played four sets back-to-back! Josh plays for the Unknowns as well, the man is a machine and barely had a minute to himself – hats off to you!
You could see the crowd starting to get rowdy and into their set but alls they wanted was “Smoko”. That song must be the “Wonderwall” of The Chats… Having said that, it goes off like a frog in a sock! The Chats are simply good at what they do. What you would expect to see, is exactly what they deliver. So, if you haven’t already – check them out!!
