The Brewtality Festival is on again this year and HEAVY Music Magazine is proud to be a presenting partner. The event will be held on 8 August across two venues; The Tote and The Bendigo Hotel.
We caught up with Captives to get an insight into the band, what you can expect from them at Brewtality Festival and more.
What’s your latest release?
Our latest release is a limited edition vinyl called Waking the Dead. The vinyl has our new EP on Side A and our debut EP on the flipside. You can grab yourself a copy by clicking ‘Merch’ on our website.
How has 2015 started out for your band? Please share some of the touring or release highlights.
Most of our effort this year has gone into writing for our album, but we’ve managed to play a stack of shows around Melbourne, Adelaide and back home in Tassie so far this year as part of our vinyl release – so 2015 has been a f*cking blast so far, with plenty more surprises in store, I’m sure!
Can you give us a few words that would make me come over to your stage and watch your set?
Come over for a high energy show, and let us kick you in the teeth with some ‘Tasmanian Forest Horror’.
What song is going to be the highlight of your Brewtality set, the one that will really engage with the crowd?
Our singles Insomnia and Zombie Dog always seem to go down well, but we’ve been throwing a few new ones in the set lately, and the new stuff really thumps – so, if you catch our set you might get a little taste.
If there was one song in history that you could have written, what would it be and why?
Anything by Robert Johnson – that’s where it all comes from anyway. That guy was a bad arse. He made no attempt to sugarcoat what he was trying to say, or how he played it. Rumour has it he sold his soul to the Devil so he could become an amazing guitarist.
