The Brewtality Festival is on again this year and HEAVY Music Magazine is proud to be a presenting partner. The event will be held on 8 August across two venues; The Tote and The Bendigo Hotel.
We caught up with Alkira to get an insight into the band, what you can expect from them at Brewtality Festival and more.
What’s your latest release?
Our debut album ‘Juggernaut’, released in October 2014.
How has 2015 started out for your band?
So far, 2015 has been the busiest year in the bands history. In January we embarked on a headlining tour of New Zealand, after a tour package including ourselves, 8 Foot Sativa and Frankenbok was canned at the last minute by the promoter. We have since toured to all corners of Australia in support of Juggernaut, including playing at Stormrider Festival in Perth, Slayer Day in Sydney, and multiple shows in QLD, VIC and SA. We also recently signed a management and distribution deal with Truth Inc. RMT.
Can you give us a few words that would make me come over to your stage and watch your set?
Any ALKIRA set can be epitomised in a single sentence: Energy, hunger and high intensity metal played with every last drop of blood, sweat and beer.
What song is going to be the highlight of your Brewtality set, the one that will really engage with the crowd?
Submission Therapy is the opening track and first single from Juggernaut and it always seems to get the pit moving! Our cover of Sepultura’s ‘Inner Self’ is also a crowd favourite.
If there was one song in history that you could have written, what would it be and why?
Black Sabbath – War Pigs, cos RIFFS!
