“I am the seed of every god, beautiful as evening, hard as light. I am the last four days of yesterday, four screams from the edges of earth—beauty, terror, truth, madness—the phoenix on his pyre.” — Normandi Ellis, Awakening Osiris

Twin flames have existed forever in history. The manifestation of perfectly matched souls meeting and converging, united in purpose and intention; the true form embodies all houses of human spirituality – earth, air, fire, water – in complement.

The most ancient of representations is the great Egyptian lovers: Osiris of the afterlife resurrection and fertility, his legacy would be less fortuitous had it not been for his queen, Isis, the Mother of the Universe, for without one there would be no other; no son born, nor The Discovery made.

Returning for the first time this decade, BORN OF OSIRIS, joined by fellow countrymen, SIGNS OF THE SWARM, unite in celebration of their sacred anniversary, beginning the Australian tour in Adelaide.

Vocalist Dave Simonich, bassist Michael Cassese & guitarist Carl Schulz lurch across the Lion Arts Factory precipice, SIGNS OF THE SWARM beginning the ritual To Rid Myself From Truth this Wednesday night.

The front of house trio animated, Bobby Crow on drums is contrarily calm as he positively pulverises the kit. ‘It’s always the quiet ones you’ve got to watch out for’ and the eponymous harbinger of death proves, HELLMUSTFEARME! A circlepit of sudden velocity forms, knocking innocent bystanders off their feet and beer out of hand.

It’s been a long 4, 5 years since we’ve been here; boy, it’s good to be back. Whose first time is it, seeing SOTS tonight? This is dedicated to you – this is Natural Selection!‘ Scars Upon Scars are formed by the chaotic centripetal motion of the gladiators’ Chariot out of control.

Are you entertained?! This is war music, motherfuckers‘, IWONTLETYOUDIE, at least not just yet. The Pennsylvanian deathcore four, determined to leave Adelaide in a Tower of Torsos on the opening night of tour, asks us to ‘remember these words‘. The Creators beginning the final, Sarkazien era, Amongst the Low & Empty, SOTS have us high and full of energy tonight.

Casual conversation in intermission supplanted by celestial visions, BORN OF OSIRIS storms the stage. Ronnie Canizaro demands, ‘Adelaide, fucking Bow Down!‘ As they Elevate the evening to soulcrushing heights, the quintet implore the crowd to Follow the Signs of ‘the inner eye, the heart(Muata Ashby, Egyptian Book of the Dead: The Book of Coming Forth By Day).

Empires Erased by Horus in honour of the father and this Abstract Art, we’re challenged to ‘put your hands up‘ and vote on the mystery of the Pyramids: man, Angel or Alien, who bred creation? A Mind Short Circuiting, I have forever argued the former; it was our invention and endeavour that, Through Shadows of divine intervention perhaps, these Wonders of the World were brought to life.

Full attention to the stage, guitarists Nick Rossi & Travis Montgomery charm as bassist Dan Marinaro stands with the strength of Rameses II effigy. A reverberating boom In Desolation fills the chest cavities of all in the room, extra-terrestrial projections suddenly fall into darkness for the Ascension.

Canizaro retreating with micstand to Regenerate, Marinaro harmonises and drummer Cameron Losch’s permeating heartbeat Recreate the dynamic; both stepping to the fore via the rhythm section, they Devastate and amaze, all at once.

Each member acting in unison but with striking Singularity, BOO are an innately human Machine. Authentic in Automated Motion, the Two Worlds of Design dance in perfectly syncopated progressive time; their ‘rhythm shakes the earth’ around us, producing an enormous sound that drowns out any problem with A Solution – music.

In true twin flame nature, all members join their fists in unity, and, as one, turn with intention, extending the gesture to the Lion Arts’ audience. With one last chance to go Under the Knife, another level is found and, led in our charge by those BORN OF OSIRIS, we come back down to earth after battle – all new gods tonight.
