Blackwulf – Oblivion Cycle – Album Review

Blackwulf
Oblivion Cycle
Release Date: 11 December 2015
Ripple Music
Review by Kerry Monaghan

Oakland’s Blackwulf is an assault of Stoner Rock goodness ready to melt faces with the highly anticipated release of their second album, Oblivion Cycle in December.

An outstanding slab of heavy riffs and some serious rock chop vocals from vocalist, Alex Cunningham make for some pretty awesome head banging, feet stomping moments and it’s impossible to not have this album on repeat. Blackwulf don’t do anything by half measures if their first LP, Mind Traveler is anything to go by and fans will love that the band have still followed their sludge layered style. It’s Rock n Roll Stoner Doom at its finest.

It’s hard to pick a favourite when every track gets you riled up in excitement at how good this album is, but second and third track in, Memories and Acid Reign definitely stand out. The riffs are infectious, the sound is huge. Oblivion Cycle is an album made to be played loud.
