BLACKEN OPEN AIR Announces First Wave Of Bands

The wait is over. Blacken Open Air, Australia’s most unique heavy music festival, has dropped its first line up for 2025, featuring an electrifying mix of international icons, exclusive reunions, and homegrown heavyweights.

Leading the first announcement are Uada (Portland’s enigmatic black metal wraiths), Earthless (San Diego’s mind-melting psych-rock titans) and Blood Duster, who will reunite for an exclusive Australian performance. Alongside them are Gutalax (the Czech Republic’s infamous party grinders), the legendary Brant Bjork Trio (godfather of stoner rock, Kyuss/Fu Manchu), the theatrical mayhem of Battlesnake, Adelaide world-thrashers Hidden Intent, Melbourne maniacs Terminal Sleep, Arrernte warriors Southeast Desert Metal, the bone-crushing ferocity of Nicolas Cage Fighter, the devastating darkness of Kilat, the occult groove of Witchskull and from Aotearoa’s underground emerge Māori-doom-punk group DAHTM. More announced acts include Scarnon (bringing their petrol-powered Hellhound Amp), punk balladeer Slim Krusty, the death metal of Carcinoid, the top-end energy of Fuxache and the mesmerizing spells of the coven known as Dawn.

Blacken Open Air 2025 is set to take place from September 19-22, bringing fans to the heart of Australia for three nights of music, culture, and heavy metal unity beneath the black sky of a new moon.
