Today marks the release of the 50th Anniversary 5 LP/4 CD edition of Black Sabbath’s genre-defining album Paranoid, which features the vinyl debut of two 1970 concerts.
Following the success of the band’s self-titled debut album in early 1970, Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward returned that fall with Paranoid which became Black Sabbath’s first album to top the U.K charts and has since sold more than 4 million copies in the U.S alone.
The album features some of the bands best-known songs including “War Pigs”, “Planet Caravan”, “Iron Man” and “Paranoid”.
To this day it is recognized as a pivotal moment in the birth of heavy metal and is still as fresh and vibrant as the day it was released.
To celebrate, BMG and Maric Media have given HEAVY two of the 4 CD box sets to give away to our readers. To be in the running tell us your favourite song from Paranoid either by email [email protected] with Paranoid in the subject area or comment on the Facebook link.
Winners will be announced on Monday, October 19 on the HEAVY Facebook page.
