Melbourne alternative emo rock outfit Belle Haven burst back onto the scene with their groovy new single, it’s not that deep. Marking their first release of the year, the track reaffirms the band’s signature sound—catchy, compelling, and unapologetically bold.
Belle Haven deliver a song that is as emotionally charged as it is bouncy with it’s not that deep, produced and engineered with the master of pop punk, Jack Newlyn (Between You And Me, Teenage Joans, Eat Your Heart Out, Stuck Out). The band weave soaring melodies, punchy guitars, and a driving rhythm into an anthem of self-acceptance, pushing back against the weight of external perceptions. The lyrics explore the struggle of being misrepresented, rejecting the pressure to conform to others’ expectations. “You don’t have to carry the weight of someone else’s version of you,” says frontman David De La Hoz. “People will paint you however they need to fit their story, but sometimes that’s all it is. It’s not that deep.”
