Beautiful Bedlam, much like their oxymoron band name suggests, deliver a manic and melodic blend of experimental/progressive rock music, with hints of jazz, metal and more. Formed in Melbourne, Australia in 2017 from the ashes of prog stalwarts A Lonely Crowd, Beautiful Bedlam consists of brothers Luke (guitar) and Scott Ancell (drums), James Van Strien (bass) and Benjamin Wylie (vocals).
Beautiful Bedlam are currently releasing pro-shot live videos from their Live at The Band Booth EP (31st July, 2024), which showcases four songs from their upcoming second album. HEAVY will be presenting these four tracks to you one at a time, offering you Sporadic Neurotic today.
Sporadic Neurotic showcases the ‘bedlam’ side of the band, with confronting dissonant jazz harmonies complemented by a maelstrom of erratic and frenzied rhythms. The lyrics are about a man whose hand is amputated by a sadistic surgeon, and the challenging consequences he endures as a result.
