BEARTOOTH Get their Claws Out

Share This:

“First off, I’m just really proud of the music on this record because it’s all real,” enthused Beartooth frontman and general orchestrator Caleb Shomo on the bands’ upcoming release ‘Disease’. “In general with modern production, there’s a lot more editing that goes into specific things like the drums and guitars. There’s drum samples and digital guitar tones and things that make life a lot easier but I made the decision to try and do a raw record, right off a console and the way it was done back in the day on the records I love. I think that made the sound on this record. I wanted to be able to feel the sweat in the room – whether that comes across or not (laughs) – that was really important to me.”

In the full interview Caleb goes into greater depth on ‘Disease’, including the title, plus he discusses the importance of having a message in your music, the cathartic nature of recording music, why he finished the album off in Nashville instead of his home basement, the musical climate that gave birth to Beartooth, why he does everything on each record from writing to recording each instrument, plus more.
