The Awards Ceremony and Concert will later be broadcast nationally on ABC TV and streamed on ABC iView from Friday, September 29, 2023. AWMA has also commissioned a First Nations composition written by GLVES and Arrowbird, produced by Arrowbird and mixed and mastered by Antonia Gauci, which will form the soundtrack to this year’s ABC TV broadcast.

Multi-platinum recording artist and singer-songwriter Vanessa Amorosi will return to Australia from her home in Los Angeles to attend and perform at AWMA.

Twenty-Three AWMAs will be awarded this year from a public and self-nomination process that attracted hundreds of individual nominations, each assessed by a specially-convened 37-seat Juror Council comprised of industry professionals and practitioners of the highest calibre, with representation across a diverse range of music disciplines and cultures. The 2023 AWMA Honour Roll inductee is soon to be announced.

The brainchild of Executive Producer & Program Director Vicki Gordon, the inaugural AWMA debuted in October 2018, in response to the chronic gender inequality in the Australian music industry as a platform to share ideas and celebrate the nation’s leading female creatives and professionals as dynamic essential contributors to the future of the music industry.

AWMA Executive Producer & Program Director Vicki Gordon said: “AWMA will always be at the forefront of change in the Australian Music Industry and we continue to insist the industry adopt gender equality as a core music industry value. AWMA’s mission is to give voice to a dynamic community of voices and to showcase performances that exemplify the strengths and diversity of Australian Women in Music in a powerful, inclusive and unique celebration.”

The 2023 Australian Women in Music Awards and Conference Program is proudly supported by the Queensland Government, with extensive support from industry and community partners.

AWMA is an initiative of the non-profit Charity Cicada International Ltd.
