Australian Women in Music is proud to announce that nominations for the prestigious Australian Women in Music Awards 2026 are officially open.
Twenty-two categories span across all music genres and the many behind-the-scenes roles vital to the Australian music industry. AWMA is also pleased to announce the introduction of the inaugural Music Advocacy Award, established in partnership with and presented by ARIA. This special category honours the women and gender-diverse legends championing local music and working tirelessly to make our industry a safer, more equal place for everyone.
“Australian Women in Music Awards is about more than just picking winners; they represent a vital opportunity for us to stand together and amplify the voices and hard work of the women and gender-diverse artists and music practitioners who are driving our industry forward. Since its inception in 2018, AWMA has recognised close to 3000 individuals. By nominating, we’re not just celebrating talent, we’re actively helping to shift the dial toward a more inclusive and equitable future for Australian music,” said Founding Executive Producer and Program Director Vicki Gordon.
The strict cut-off date for nominations is midnight on Monday June 8, 2026. Recipients of the much-coveted AWMA Spirit trophy will be announced at the 2026 Australian Women in Music Awards Ceremony on Thursday October 22 at the Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane. AWMA has become a vital platform for recognising the vast contributions of First Nations, culturally diverse, female and gender-diverse artists, musicians, technicians, photographers, journalists, leaders and music practitioners from every corner of the industry.
