Australian Live Music Hits The World Stage Through Virtual Reality

GiG VR are the first Australian Virtual Reality company to have a video published on ‘Inception VR’– an app delivering premium curated VR experiences to music fans worldwide.

Can I be your lover by Sydney-based band Lime Cordiale is the number one featured video on the Inception VR platform this week.

“We’re pretty stoked to be the first Australian band to be featured thanks to GiG VR” said brothers Louis and Oli Leimbach of Lime Cordiale.

Brisbane-based startup GiG VR have also seen amazing growth through their other distribution channels and were recently hand-picked by Samsung to be in the top twenty five channels on their VR app.

GiG VR now sit alongside industry heavy weights such as Vice, CNN, The New York Times and Warner Bros.

Four of GiG VR’s videos have already been featured heavily on the Samsung VR app.

GiG VR cofounder and CEO Chris Brady said distributing sought after content through new technology channels meant GiG VR had opened the gates to expose Australian bands to a whole new global audience of music fans. The company helps audiences experience their favourite musicians through 360° video and Virtual Reality.

Mr Brady said in the future GiG VR will introduce live streaming in Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality for gigs, a move that will disrupt and change the music industry in an extremely positive way.

“The live music industry is so important for bands in order to make money” he said.

“Our platform will open up a whole new revenue stream for bands like Lime Cordiale in the near future and allow them to make more money from their live performances and gain more global exposure for doing what they do best, playing live.”

GiG VR have filmed epic performances from the Dune RatsThe Chats, Wolfmother, Toro Y Moi and Miami Horror to name a few.

There are more than one hundred and fifty million active VR users worldwide at the moment and this figure is expected to grow rapidly with new headsets being released such as the Facebook backed Oculus GO.

Audiences don’t need a VR headset to watch GiG VR videos. Just head to www.gigvr.tv to watch all the videos on any digital device.
