The San Diego County Sheriffs Department has released a statement in relation to the arrest today of As I Lay Dying’s Tim Lambesis.
SDCSD spokesperson Jan Caldwell advised media outlet Reuters “The information came to us late last week, we acted quickly on it. I believe that we averted a great tragedy”. The official charge Lambesis has been slapped with is Solicitation of Another to Commit Murder.
The 32 year old vocalist and his wife Meggan have been estranged since September last year, when she filed for divorce according to San Diego Superior Court papers.
She had appeared as a background vocalist on the debut album Total Brutal for her husband’s side project, the cult favourite, Austrian Death Machine. ADM is a parody group in homage to Arnold Schwarzenegger that Lambesis created in 2008.
Lambesis will face arraignment either Wednesday or Thursday. (US time).
As I Lay Dying have now released the following statement on Lambesis’ arrest via their website:
“To our fans,
As we post this, the legal process is taking it’s course and we have no more information than you do. There are many unanswered questions, and the situation will become clearer in the coming days and weeks. We’ll keep you informed as best we can.
Our thoughts right now are with Tim, his family, and with everyone else affected by this terrible situation – and with our fans, whom we love and draw strength from.
Thank you for understanding, and as always, for your support of As I Lay Dying.
– Jordan, Nick, Phil, and Josh”
