I’d be straight up lying if I said I wasn’t excited for this 13-track beast from Amyl and the Sniffers, Comfort to Me. I’m an absolute sucker for that Aussie pub rock/ punk sound, and these guys nail it.

Covid really hasn’t attributed many positives to our lives, however, forcing downtime on bands and creative minds alike is producing quality music! That’s exactly how Comfort To Me was born in the midst of a Covid lockdown, trapped in their Melbourne rental with ‘sick green walls’, Amy Taylor (vocals), Dec Martens (guitar), Gus Romer (bass) and Bryce
(drums) created magic.

On your first listen, this album seems light-hearted, upbeat, and easy to bob along to. Have a closer listen, and you will hear that most of the songs on there have a BIG message behind them.

Huge undertones of ‘BE YOURSELF AND FUCK THE REST’, social issues, being a woman (in music and in everyday life) and a bunch of other issues that I resonated with. Amy’s songwriting is really coming into its own. These songs are hilarious, relatable, and catchy without being cheesy.

I encourage you to go back and listen to the Amyls’ journey up to this point. It’s quite impressive…. As a band, they’ve grown so much and really honed in their unique sound.

Comfort to Me has great production, sounds tip-top, and they’ve certainly come a long way from recording their EP Giddy Up on a whim with little experience all completed in 12 hours!

Very cool to watch unfold.

Amyl and the Sniffers have their place in Aussie music, and you can’t help but fall in love with them. Look, even if you don’t like them, they won’t give a flying fuck anyway! Get a cold beer and wrap your sweet listening holes around Comfort to Me. You won’t regret it!

The album will be played in full on Tuesday, October 5 via livestream ‘on a slab of concrete in a suburban wasteland somewhere in Melbourne, Australia.

You can buy tickets to the stream the event through the link below. Don’t forget to grab some merchandise whilst you’re there! by Angels
