Alt. Rock Outfit Dear Seattle From Sydney Release Debut Album – ‘Don’t Let Go’

Sydney quartet Dear Seattle release their debut album this Friday 15th Feb. and is a self reflecting creation and its title Don’t Let Go covers touring-related themes. “It’s Don’t Let Go because life is bittersweet. I’ve come to realise that everything positive comes with its negatives and everything negative comes with its positives, it’s up to you to decide what side you want to focus on and give energy to,” says Fisher. “The album is based mostly on two events that pretty much sum up that realisation. One, the success of Dear Seattle, which is such a hugely positive thing for me, but has brought so much hardship in a lot of ways; and two, losing Dad, which is obviously one of the worst things I’ve experienced, but it truly taught me that time and perseverance can heal anything. Also, that life is short so do what you love while you can.”

Trying to be as honest, raw and real as they can be Dear Seattle summarisethe end result of the album as Don’t Let Go as the band toning down some of the grunge overtones of their EP while pursuing the quiet-loud raw rock’n’roll dynamics that have made them one of the country’s most exciting new groups. Whether it be the joyful yob sing-a-long that starts “Daytime TV”, the surging riffing of “Bigger Than My Brain”, the flailing rhythms and pop melodies of “Homegrown” or the contemplative power of “I Keep Dreaming”, Don’t Let Go has all the elements of a killer rock’n’roll album: big riffs, anthemic choruses, snotty vocals, plenty of substance and barely any style. It’s heartfelt, it’s life affirming, and it’s very, very real.
