All That Remains Of TALWILKENFELD

Share This:

As a guitarist there isn’t much that Australian musician Tal Wilkenfeld hasn’t done. She has performed alongside greats like Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Prince and has even opened for The Who. Now though music lovers are about to see a different side to Wilenfeld as she launches her new album Love Remains which sees her also take the vocal duties as well.

HEAVY Mag recently caught up with Tal Wilkenfeld to not only talk about her new album but to also discuss her career in general.

“I started as a vocalist,” she states as we talk about the fact that many people have probably never heard actually sing before. “Then when I moved to America I became very mono focussed on guitar, then the bass and then I decided that I wanted to move to New York and just study and play jazz and then that turned into to me becoming a hired gun as a bass player, and then that turned into years of touring. I realised that as crazy as all that was I was just craving being able to write songs again and singing… that’s when I started this journey into making this album.”

As we go back over her career we talk about the fact that she moved from Australia to the US to chase her dreams when she was just sixteen. “Oh it was the easiest decision in the world,” she says when I ask whether that was a hard or easy decision to make. “That doesn’t mean that it wasn’t difficult because it was quite challenging but it was everything that I wanted to do you know…. I was very driven to play music full time.
