[ALBUM REVIEW] THE IRON EYE: Foreign Bodies EP

Share This:

It’s always the way, isn’t it? You put together a list of the best albums of the year and then in mid-December an album arrives that deserves to be on that list… hell if I was re-writing my list right now The Iron Eye’s Foreign Bodies EP would probably be topping my list. Why, you ask? Because this my friends is one of the best rock albums of 2016… it is amazing EP that showcases a band that I’m sure is destined for big things in the future.

On this EP this Brisbane band deliver one of the freshest sounds of 2016, and this is an album I feel that I will be listening to on high rotation this summer. Certainly, the opening track, Culpa, has summer anthem written all over it and the chorus’ melody is one of the catchiest that you are ever going to hear. It is hard not to imagine elements of Kings Of Leon as you listen to Just Started, a track that sees the grunt kick in as the chorus begins.

The title track, Foreign Bodies, really showcases the vocal skills of lead singer Nick Lythall and he reveals himself as one of the finest vocalists going around. The track itself is so catchy that it is impossible not to fall in love with The Iron Eye at this point. That catchiness continues on Where Do You Go which is the track that shows that these guys should be getting major radio play in Australia… seriously Triple M take note!!!! The EP then closes out with my favourite track, Silence, which shows a heavier side of The Iron Eye, not too dissimilar to the early sounds of Silverchair.

Aussie rock fans listen up!!! The Iron Eye are the band that everybody is going to be talking about so go out and grab this EP and discover one amazing band.
