AJ Maddah in bankruptcy case, which was filed prior to Soundwave Festival cancellation

Share This:

American Express has filed a bankruptcy case against AJ (Arash) Maddah in the Federal Court of Australia on 4 December 2015.  This was 13 days prior to the 2016 version of Soundwave Festival being officially cancelled on 17 December 2015.

The Federal Court record shows the filing title as American Express Australia Limited ACN 108 952 085 v Arash Maddah, with the first court date to appear on 3 February 2016.

The news of Soundwave’s 2016 cancellation has been surrounded in controversy over the last few days, with Eventopia claiming that they advanced Maddah and Soundwave Festival with money from the sales of tickets.  Maddah then responded by stating that he has no money (presumably spent on band deposits) and that the onus was on Eventopia to refund ticket holders.

A few ticket holders have confirmed they’ve been successful with charge backs from their financial institutions, however TSS (The Soundwave Society) members haven’t been as fortunate as most of them bought tickets earlier in the year rendering their charge back out of time.

The public record for the filing can been seen at this link.
