AC/DC ‘Let There Be Rock Competition’ Takes On Top Shelf Judging Panel

Share This:

The AC/DC Bourbon & Cola ‘Let There Be Rock’ Competition and Fund is a multi-platform initiative that will utilise the power of music and social media to support a crowd funding model by way of image and video uploads. In December 2015 the first ever AC/DC Bourbon & Cola Limited Edition Collectible Can was released with the first of 10 album covers honouring the band’s latest release and tour, Rock or Bust. The remaining nine album-cover cans will be released every four to six weeks in Australia and New Zealand.

Throughout the duration of the limited edition can on-sale period, consumers will be contributing to the hashtag #showusurcans with image or video uploads. The images will be approved and aggregated on the campaign website HERE.

Hand-picked bands will also receive the ‘Rite to Rider’ where they will be granted the AC/DC Bourbon & Cola for tours or recording sessions in honour of the blood sweat and tears shed to make it in the extremely competitive industry today. Fans, consumers and ‘Rite to Rider’ bands alike will be encouraged to post images and videos with the cans present in support of the first ever winner of the ‘Let There Be Rock’ fund.  The more images posted the larger the fund will grow.

The AC/DC ‘Let there Be Rock’ Comp and Fund is officially supported by Rolling Stone Magazine, and has partnered with Shazam and Triple M. The fund has received a kick-start with contributions from Studios 301 and MGM Australia, on top of the starting cash prize from AC/DC Bourbon & Cola of $10,000.

The judging panel so far confirmed includes the likes of Lindsay ‘The Doctor’ McDougal, lead guitarist Frenzal Rhomb, Rolling Stone Editor-in-Chief Mathew Coyte, EMI / Studios 301 Leon Zervos (Mastering Beastie Boys / Aerosmith), Triple M’s Dave ‘Higgo’ Higgins, 123 Agency’s Director Damian Costin, and more to be announced as the fund grows.

Thursday March 1st 2016 doors will open to Australian and New Zealand Bands to create an AC/DC Cover in any genre – unique styles are encouraged.  Video submissions will be uploaded to the contestant’s YouTube or Vimeo channels with the hashtags #showusurcans and #letthereberock. More details to be revealed on the campaign website HERE.
