Looking at the extensive list of bands due for an Australian tour above one could deduce a MASSIVE AUSTRALIAN METAL FESTIVAL awaits us in 2018. That’s right kiddies; it can happen!
At the end of last year, we ran a poll to see who you would like to see tour Australia in 2017. We are nearly at the halfway point of the year, and it’s progressed nicely with some stellar announcements like Alice Cooper, DragonForce, Ill Nino, Dillinger Escape Plan, AFI, Paradise Lost, Stone Sour and a few surprising candidates with Ministry, Filter, TrapT, Richie Kotzen, ’68, Sebastian Back, Haken, Mike Portnoy, Accept, Anathema, Napalm Death.
BUT, we are yet to have to hear from some of the major acts which we outlined in our poll. Metallica, Slayer, Rammstein, System Of A Down, Avenged Sevenfold, Anthrax, KoRn, Dream Theater…
Let’s look at who has released an album and have not yet toured in the past twelve months; add in bands that haven’t been here for years; sprinkle in a few others that have never been but are touring elsewhere in the world and you will find yourself a mega-hot-list of bands, most of which are likely to announce a tour at any moment! [We’ve included a few others to the that weren’t in the original poll we ran.]
Now the question is the festival going to be a band new entity? Or SOUNDWAVE-ReBorn (more like brought back from obliteration…), or a franchise brought in from overseas like Download, Sonisphere (which have been dormant for a while but rumours are…) or Ozzfest/KnotFest (maybe we will know in July!).
And will it be a one, two or even three-day festival? Where will it be located? Will it be an inner-city location like the show grounds or a couple of hours outside of the capital cities and therefore be a camping festival?
What would you prefer? To go home to your bed each night or do the camping thing?
So there you have it. A MASSIVE possibility of a MASSIVE Festival in 2018, if not 2019.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Here are some other band we would love to see but don’t think will be a part of a festival:
King Diamond, Dream Theater, G3, Dokken, Cinderella, Ratt, Van Halen, Mr Big. There’s probably more we haven’t thought of yet.
