Flowers For Jayne return with Pocket Superman, a fierce, propulsive new single that turns one of society’s most confronting issues into a raw, immediate rock statement. Led by former Lime Spiders guitarist and principal songwriter Jayne Murphy, the Sydney indie pop-punk-rock trio waste no time making their presence felt.
Pocket Superman explodes from a taut syncopated riff and chant-ready hook, driven by sharp staccato accents, a muscular rhythm section and a chorus turnaround built for maximum impact. Murphy’s focused vocal cuts through with striking conviction, while the track’s deliberately raw production amplifies its urgency.
Lyrically, Pocket Superman confronts violence and domestic abuse head-on, continuing Murphy’s commitment to writing about issues that reach beyond the confines of the song. “I’ve been focusing on releasing songs that address today’s important issues. Pocket Superman addresses sensitive social attitudes about violence in general and domestic violence in particular. It affects everyone!” says Murphy.
